The walk
The context of the story is that a young woman leaves her friends to go explore and walk the city at night, I like this one as it portrays the experience of night walking seeing the lights the sounds and even the smells the camera shots are nice with a lot of tracking shots and close ups, my favourite part is when the girl looks up using a camera perspective of her looking at the glare of the city it might be night time, however, the city never sleeps there are always things going on, it also portrays loneliness as she is alone and can create fear not knowing what is going to happen or who might want to get to you, the film also shows the other side of the city as she walks down the subway to see the gangs and groups of kids all piled up like rats, I really like the establishing shots that show the city in its best there are some over the shoulder shots that show the other people like the girl walking home and going to other places just like the girl, the good use of blaring and light fading is good it’s not too much but not too little for what they were trying to get and it's realistic rather than seeing the darkness, and the last shot of the girl on the bridge with others as the city and the people start to wake up and get in to gear and do there day as the day repeats, and in the following 24 hrs she will be back to where she was.
A minute of silence
The context behind the short film is that the family apart from one of the children is deaf and that they speak in sign language and there are subtitles for those who have no idea what is happening like me and the grandpa is in coma and one of the children says that the other tried to kill him as he did stuff to them which no one knows about and he claims that everyone is blind even though he suffers from a disability himself, the emotion that comes off the sign language and reading the subtitles, and the camera angles are really nice as they show the family as one and splits off as the children have somthing to say to each other and for the camera to sanp back to the mother in the centre with her shocked expression, the set shows a normal family in a normal house hold with a caring family with a hidden secret, there are some specific objects and props that make the set better the grey pot signifeis a sacred place like they are foucusing all of there enrgy to the pot to help there grandad get well. and how the film ends with the mother looking shocked at the end as she has seen it all is amazing and well thought out as she is very upset even as her children are saying what is wrong with there grandad in times of need and close bonds to the family.
open the box
The context behind this is that a girl goes to her father asks him to open a box then asks him to pull out the knife and proceed to kill himself and put the knife back then she says how did you kill your self if your already dead then it ends this is really emotional as it gives an insight to her life and she perfectly says kill your self and changes tone and everything the camera angles are good and show a conversation for both people and you can feel the pain she goes through and a long distant one it is, the short film is depicted in a nice house in the day and the setting doesnt show one but how the actor is feeling and trying to portray and this is what I like about it how it doesnt depict anything about what is said or what is happening it could have been done at night or in a poor house, the film also shows how people deal with this situation and shows how people can say what they want and no remorse is shown and the actor is amazing at this and the transistion of what is said.
